New series strives to give audiences value and community with local music, local beer, and an affordable night out to support Macon’s creative community, working with locally owned brands Macon Magazine and Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen.

MACON, Ga. — This summer, Robins Financial Capitol Theatre invites a community that may have gotten cynical about the live music scene to skip the overpriced concerts with three figure ticket fees and complex logistics. This series aims to reconnect Maconites with live music in a way that feels a little more… real.

$10 Beer + a Local Show is a new summer concert series at the The Capitol that celebrates Macon’s music scene with affordable tickets and performances by some of Central Georgia’s most exciting artists. Each $10 ticket includes both admission to the show and a featured beer brewed by Piedmont Brewery (or a crafted mocktail). How’s that for value?

The series was created to make live music accessible to everyone while giving audiences another reason to support the artists and businesses that make Macon’s music culture thrive.

“Summer can be a challenging time for downtown businesses, and we know patrons are also feeling like going out, especially to a concert, isn’t always for them anymore,” said Julia Morrison, Executive Director. “People feel like they pay hundreds of dollars and a lot of hassle to watch artists from nosebleed seats on a screen. We wanted to create something that was unmistakably Macon and felt like a helping hand to everyone. When you buy a ticket, you’re directly supporting local artists get a booking and more followers, giving our staff work over the summer, supporting a local brewery, and keeping a historic venue that contributes to our city’s creative ecosystem alive. With just $10, we can come together and do that.”

The inaugural concert will feature Shy Company on Friday, July 10. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. The $10 Beer and a Local Show series is presented by Macon Magazine, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year of local stories and soul along with their annual Music Issue. They will be selling exclusive merchandise and subscriptions on site.

Known for blending alt/indie rock, Southern blues, and hazy, melancholic soundscapes, Shy Company has become one of Macon’s standout live acts with what they term as East Coast dream rock. The six-piece band describes its sound as “cigarette mom rock,” delivering energetic performances blending dreamy melodies, layered guitars, dynamic rhythms, and dual vocals.

In addition to the music, concertgoers will be among the first to enjoy a new crisp lager created in partnership with Piedmont Brewery specifically for the series.

With national concert prices continuing to climb, $10 Beer + a Local Show offers a refreshing alternative: an affordable evening of live music, a Friday night out with friends, and a way to root for the local community. Tickets are $10 plus sales tax and are available now at capitoltheatremacon.com.

About Robins Financial Capitol Theatre

The historic Robins Financial Capitol Theatre in downtown Macon stands as one of the city’s enduring cultural landmarks, a beautifully restored early-20th-century venue that blends architectural character with modern production capability. Originally opened in 1916 as a vaudeville and cinema house, The Capitol has evolved alongside the city it serves, now functioning as an intimate performance space that hosts live music, comedy, and community events. The Capitol operates with the power of Mercer University as its management partner alongside sister venues that sing from the same heritage songbook: The Piedmont Grand Opera House and Capricorn Sound Studios. Today, the 650-seat Robins Financial Capitol Theatre stands as both a symbol of revitalization and a vibrant, multi-purpose entertainment venue, hosting music, performances, and community gatherings that reflect a deep commitment to Central Georgia’s music heritage and arts culture.
