What is the mission of your business?
Our mission is to provide our customers with a consistent and professional experience when it comes to flowers and gifts for every occasion. We will strive to match and surpass our customers’ expectations. We will not compromise on quality and will never use inferior products for the sake of price.

What lessons did you learn because of the COVID-19 pandemic?
I’ve learned to embrace new ways of communicating with our customers. Learning the different social media platforms as a new way of promoting our business has been challenging yet rewarding.

What is your advice for women wanting to start their own business in Macon?
My advice for women wanting to start their own business in Macon is to find someone who can be their coach or mentor. When I started in the business, there was no one to go to for help or advice, but now there are so many resources available on finances and continuing education in your field. Having knowledge and others around you with knowledge about your product is the key to being successful.

How do you define success?
Success is living your true purpose and contributing your unique God-given gifts in such a way it has a positive impact on the lives of others.

What are you most excited about right now in our community?
I am so excited about all the new businesses opening in Macon. The new amphitheater project will be huge for our community.

Why is Central Georgia a good place to do business?
We are located right in the middle of the interstate system that leads to everywhere and everything. We are just an hour away from Atlanta, two hours away from Savannah and a few hours away from Florida.

You might be surprised to know: Most people think we only offer fresh flowers. We also deliver plants, jewelry, tote bags, accessories, candles, bows, door wreaths, figurines, pastoral gifts, silk arrangements, cemetary flowers, balloons and so much more. We will celebrate 25 years in business this year!

What is the most gratifying part of your job?
It pleases my heart to have customers come in for the first time not really knowing what gift to purchase for the occasion, then leave full of knowledge of what all we have to offer. Most importantly, I get to work with my family.

What has been the most challenging part of being a female business owner or a woman in business?
The most challenging part over the years had been trying to hire more skilled designers and drivers who are familiar to what’s needed in a floral shop.

I admire women who: share their strengths and weaknesses and don’t mind helping other women grow through their struggles.

What was the best business advice you ever received?
The best business advise I’ve ever received was from my mother. She said to always treat the customer standing across from me as if it were me standing there. Also, to trust God’s plan for me.

I hope more women will: go after their dreams and not waste time listening to someone telling them what they can’t do.

How can women better support each other?
We can better support each other by telling each other about opportunities that are available to advance our businesses.

How can men better support women business owners?
Men can better support us by believing in our dreams and decisions.

Looking back, I wish I had known: more about finances and the opportunities that were available for me becoming a new business owner through the U.S. Small Business Administration and other programs.

In five years: I plan to be in a position to do more philanthropic work in the community.
