MACON200 announces “200 for MACON200” historic photo and fundraiser for Bicentennial Park

July 19th is the 200th day of the 2023 year! Come celebrate with us.

July 19th is the 200th day of the 2023 year! Macon200, the bicentennial campaign celebrating the 200th year since the incorporation of the city of Macon in 1823, will celebrate this milestone by kicking off the “$200 for Macon200” fundraising campaign that will run for the rest of the year with a historic photo opportunity open to all Maconites.

Meet us at Rosa Parks Square on July 19 at 10 a.m. to be part of a drone photo depicting a giant “200”. Our goal for the 200 for Macon200 campaign is to have at least 200 donors contribute $200 each to support the creation of Macon’s Bicentennial Park. Donors will receive a special limited-edition designed t-shirt, and an exclusive invitation to the unveiling of the Bicentennial Park design plan.

Bicentennial Park will be located in East Macon, where Macon first incorporated as a city. This new public park will be adjacent to the second entrance of Ocmulgee National Historical Park and the Mill Hill Community Center, both located off Coliseum Drive.

WHEN: Announcement July 19th at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Rosa Parks Square, 701 Poplar Street, Macon GA 31201
MORE INFO: The announcement and historic drone photo opp are open to the public. All local media and press are invited to attend.

About Macon200

Throughout 2023 we celebrate the 200th anniversary of Macon, the city where soul lives. As we stand on the precipice of Macon’s third century we reflect on our past, remain rooted in the present and imagine a future blossoming with potential for all. The Macon-Bibb County Bicentennial Celebration is a year-long opportunity to come together as a community to both honor and acknowledge our history, while celebrating the bounty of talent and potential here, now. The major initiative for the bicentennial will be Bicentennial Park, a park in East Macon that will serve as valuable public space and commemorate the vibrancy of our city.
