What is the mission of your business?
To provide orthopedic surgical care on an outpatient basis to help people.
What lessons did you learn because of the COVID-19 pandemic?
I learned how important faith over fear was and the need for prayer in all we do.
What is your advice for women wanting to start their own business in Macon?
Everyone should follow their dreams and not be fearful of taking chances.
How do you define success?
I could say that success is being financially comfortable in your business, but it is much more than that. It is being happy with your choices in life and business.
What are you most excited about right now in our community?
I am excited that there is interest in revitalizing downtown Macon. I was born and raised in Macon and have seen a lot of changes in the community and culture. I love seeing young entrepreneurs rebuilding downtown Macon.
Why is Central Georgia a good place to do business?
Macon has so much diversity in businesses, entertainment, sports, education, healthcare and residential options. I am seeing so much support for small businesses in Macon and how they are thriving.
You might be surprised that: Being a nurse for 37 years, I have witnessed a lot of changes in healthcare. Piedmont Orthopaedics has been here in Macon for more than 30 years with a great reputation of quality and compassionate care for patients.
What is the most gratifying part of your job?
Helping people. Holding a patient’s hand as they go to sleep for surgery and whispering in their ear that I will be right there with them while they are asleep and taking care of them. Telling a mother and father that I will take care of their child like they are my own, and comforting both parents and child. Knowing that I made a positive difference in someone’s day.
I admire women who: Follow their dreams and take chances.
I hope more women will: Continue to break more glass ceilings and expect respect.
How can women better support each other?
Women need to listen more to each other and care for each other.
How can men better support women business leaders?
To not tolerate inequality.
